What fun I had hosting my Birthday Club at a Palm Beach-style luncheon. Starting with these adorable invitations from Dixie Designs,
the tone was balmy, colorful and full of whimsy. The table was laid with linen and a Lilly Pulitzer topper, and accented with a mixture of gold and aqua. Guests were greeted with an impromptu bar cart filled with Lilly glasses, gold bamboo and pineapple accents, and carafes filled with Basil-Mint Lemonade (an homage to the lemonade stand which launched Lilly Pulitzer) and Pimm’s Cup. In the living room, my safari monkey bowl held cheese straws, and a mirrored tray held lettuce leafs with artichoke spread.
My Kelly Wearstler-inspired planter was filled with Ti leaves, and assorted tropical flowers and flanked by large gold pineapples. Each place setting had a different accent,
whether it was bamboo salt and pepper shakers, brass monkey figurine, or china flamingos. The menu was designed with hot, tropical summers in mind: Paula Deen’s Crab Martini, Chicken Salad, Grilled Peach Salad and Citrus Melon Balls.
